New Generation of Batteries From Exide
According to Exide, the calcium/calcium expanded grid technology used by the new range uses produces more reliable, longer life batteries. The use of lead calcium positive and negative plates in the grid over traditional dissimilar alloys ensures a lower rate of water loss, which, according to the manufacturer, makes the battery maintenance free. The batteries also use a new STE (Sealed Technology Evolution) venting system which is designed to improve safety and prevent corrosion of battery terminals. A valve with a special microporous membrane has been developed for allowing charging gases to escape while preventing the emission of corrosive acidic vapours. A new, state-of-charge indicator is also included on Exide batteries allowing stockists and motorists to easily check the condition of a battery. Although the original names remain (Ultra, Classic and Basic), a number of changes have been made to Exide's three tier range including new, single point vented (SPV) and Japanese JIS specification references in the Classic range, while Basic batteries now include a two-year guarantee and new integral carrying handle. Exide also plans to launch a number of new incentive programmes as well as a new point-of-sale package and catalogue. Two New Body Preparation Products From Bodyline Bodyline has added two new products to its consumables range. Seam sealer tape and Flex & Finish pads can be used by bodyshops on complicated refinishing jobs or small surface tasks. The Bodyline seam sealer tape, which is specifically designed to act as a seal over doors, bonnets and tailgate seams, is a pressure sensitive single-sided self adhesive solid tape, which is supplied in rolls of 10mm x 8m. Formulated to withstand the weathering process and changing temperature conditions without losing its adhesive quality, it offers bodyshops an easy to apply flexible sealing tape, which can be overpainted immediately after application. The Bodyline Flex & Finish is a non-woven nylon finishing pad, which is claimed to provide bodyshops with a more flexible alternative to standard pads, allowing greater access to difficult parts of the vehicle. The pads are supplied as perforated sheets in a durable cardboard dispenser to ensure that the product remains clean and free from contamination. Exide Introduces Rotating Electrics Range Exide has introduced a new range of rotating electrics that claims to cover more than 1,000 part numbers and 93% of the car parc. The range is designed to be sold alongside Exide's new generation of automotive batteries as part of a complete electrics package specifically aimed at motor factors and parts distributors.
Exide operates its own old core collection service and multi-value surcharge system independent of normal account transactions. Returned core is credited by value rather than units in order to simplify and speed up the operation. All Exide rotating electrics are supported by a no-quibble, 12-month guarantee, regular delivery service and a substantial marketing and merchandising programme. A dedicated rotating electrics sales team offers a range of services for stockists including complete sales workouts, product training and regular stock analysis. Exide has also produced a new rotating electrics catalogue and user-friendly part numbering system in conjunction with Copycat to provide customers with a comprehensive list of fitments. In addition, new references have been added to the BSX and Fulmen rotating electrics programmes, which now provide car parc coverage in excess of 90%. |
