Tridon Launches New Range for UK Wiper Market Fister UK has revamped its wipers collection; launching four new ranges that the company hopes will position them as a major competitor in the wiper market. The ranges, branded under the Tridon banner, consist of "Visionall", "Spoiler", "Kombipacks" and "Truck and Bus" and have all been designed to meet OE standards. Fiston state that the Tridon Visionall range covers 98% on the UK car parc, despite consisting of only 15 part numbers. With an all-metal harness, the blades are fitted with a natural rubber element to ensure silent operation and supplied with easy to use, precision-engineered adaptors. The Spoiler range consists of only seven part numbers, and is designed to offer minimum wind-lift at high speeds. It is available in sizes from 18" to 24". Kombipacks are vehicle specific wipers, including both driver and passenger blades. They are designed to be easy to fit with no unnecessary adaptors. The new Truck and Bus range covers 95% of the European truck and bus market with 35 part numbers. According to Tridon they are produced to the highest OE standards, can be fitted in seconds, and are the ideal choice for fleet operators. In addition to the new premium ranges Fister will continue to distribute its budget range. The new wiper range is part of a company wide revamp and includes a new business development programme for distributors: Tridon Team 2000. The programme involves a series of seminars about the wiper blade market for distributors, the training of installers on effective selling techniques and support for retailers through a range of materials including literature, merchandising, stock profiling and point-of-sale material. (3/00) Arvin's New E-Glass Improves Exhaust Sound Absorption Exhaust and catalyst manufacturer, Arvin Replacement Products, has introduced a new type of "continuous" E-glass fibre for exhaust absorption box packing that is claimed to give better sound absorption and a more consistent fill throughout the silencer box chamber.

(3/00) Ring Automotive is launching its new Prism brand of lighting products for fashion conscious drivers with White Prism, a new tinted headlamp bulb available in green, orange or blue. The headlamp lens magnifies the effect of the tint when the bulbs are unlit, giving a distinctive colour "show-through". The E-approved bulbs conform to the Europe regulations for headlamp bulbs, so they are completely street legal. The bulbs come in blister packs to give customers a clear view of the tints before they buy and are available in single or dual upgrade packs. (3/00) Cover Against MOT Failure Now Available From Masterfit Vauxhall owners can now chose from two new insurance schemes for their cars - MasterCover and MasterCover Plus. These offer extensive cover against MOT failure for £20 or £40 respectively and are available from participating Vauxhall MasterFit centres. Vauxhall state that MasterCover and MasterCover Plus cover those items responsible for up to 85% of all MOT failures and any defects covered will be put right by MasterFit trained technicians using genuine parts. Items covered by MasterCover include lights, steering and brakes. According to Vauxhall, these are responsible for up to two thirds of all MOT failures. With MasterCover Plus this list is extended to include petrol/diesel emissions and catalytic exhaust converters, exhaust systems and mountings. The ceiling on claims is £750 including parts, labour and VAT. Items not covered include tyres and glass. Both schemes are available from Vauxhall Masterfit centres and Vauxhall vehicles up to 10 years old or 100,000 miles are eligible. Insurance for next year's test can be taken out while customers have their annual MOT inspection at a MasterFit centre. Alternatively, customers can take out a policy up to three months before the MOT is due. (3/00) Turtle Wax Introduces New Range With TV Campaign At the end of April, Turtle Wax is to launch a multi-million pound TV advertising campaign, aimed at the fashion conscious youth market, for its new Extreme car care range. Turtle Wax's new Extreme range, available from distributor, Polco Products, contains Trilicone, which consists of three high-tech silicones specially formulated for use on automotive products to provide improved levels of shine and protection. The collection (pictured) includes Polishing Wax liquid, Rapid Drying Wash & Wax, Cockpit, Bumper and Tyre Shine and Wheel Cleaner. (3/00) New Astra Engine Offers More Power and Low Emissions A new 1.7DTi 16v engine with improved power, torque and lower emissions - as well as an extra-urban driving fuel consumption of 70 mpg - joins Vauxhall's 2000 Astra hatch, saloon and estate range. With direct injection and a low-pressure turbocharger the 1.7DTi produces 75PS with 121.7lb.ft of torque from just 1800rpm - compared to 68PS and 97.3lb.ft respectively for the 1.7 TD it replaces. Improvements have also been made to fuel economy and emissions with over 70mpg in extra-urban driving (against 55.4 mpg for the outgoing engine), Vauxhall claim this represents a saving of £976 in fuel costs over 60,000 miles. With emissions reduced by more than 20% compared with the 1.7TD, it has the lowest CO2 output of all Vauxhall's environmentally friendly engines. The engine is available in Envoy trim in hatch and estate models or LS trim as hatch saloon and estate. Astra's diesel engine range also includes the larger 2.0Di 16v engine, available in Club and LS trim. The extra performance of the 82PS 16v engine offers greater torque (185Nm) but is still capable of over 60mpg. The flagship 2.0DTi engine, delivering maximum power of 100PS and 230Nm of torque, is available as five-door hatch and estate CD models. (3/00) Mintex Announces Range Extensions Mintex have produced details of their latest brake pad, disc and drum range extensions, including products for Ford Focus, Peugeot 206, Vauxhall Astra, Volkswagen Golf and Mercedes A-Class. Replacement Products uses continuous E-glass fibre packing material
as short strand packing material can become dislodged leading to a
blockage and exhaust failure. The uncut continuous strands from a
skein of fibre are fired though a nozzle into the box until it is
full, thus giving an even fill packing. According to Arvin, the packing's
even fill and greater fibre density result in improved sound reduction.

wall posters for stockists.
